Questions
The questions reception is asked every day.
Do you take insurance?
We are registered with GNIC, Prime Insurance and Global Security for reimbursement. We do not bill them directly. You pay us, we give you a stamped receipt with the treatment codes on it, and you claim back. Most people see the money in two to four weeks.
Can I pay in instalments?
Yes, on treatment over D10,000. Half on the day, the balance over three months, agreed in writing before we begin. No interest and no fee. If a payment will be late, tell us and we will move it.
How long does a crown take?
Two visits, eight to ten days apart. We have a dental technician and a laboratory on the premises, so the work is not sent abroad. That is also why it is D12,000 rather than the D20,000 you would pay to have it made overseas and shipped.
Do you treat children, and from what age?
From six months. A check up under 12 is D450 including fluoride varnish. A child's first visit is free if a parent is being treated the same day. Early visits are mostly about the child getting used to the room.
Do you do teeth whitening?
Yes, in practice, one 90 minute session for D9,500. We do not sell home kits and we will not whiten teeth with untreated decay or gum disease, so the check up comes first.
What if I am nervous?
Tell reception when you book. You get a longer appointment at no extra charge and the first visit is talking and looking rather than treatment. We do not use general anaesthetic; for very anxious patients we can prescribe a sedative to take beforehand, which means somebody else drives you home.
Do I need a referral?
No. Anyone can book directly, and there is no registration or membership.
Do you place implants or fit braces?
No to both. We refer to a colleague in Dakar and will be honest with you about the travel and the cost before you commit. We would rather say no than do something occasionally.
How soon can I be seen?
Routine appointments are usually available within forty eight hours. Saturdays fill first, so ask about a weekday if you can. In pain, the same day: we keep four emergency slots free every working day.
Is there parking, and is the entrance accessible?
Six spaces behind the building, and street parking on Atlantic Road. The entrance has a ramp and one surgery is on the ground floor, so tell us when you book if stairs are difficult.
